Ousmane Dembele insists he will not be leaving Barcelona this summer amid contract standoff

Ousmane Dembele-Barcelona

Ousmane Dembele has declared he will not be leaving Barcelona this summer.

The Frenchman, whose contract with Barca will end this summer, has declared he ‘fine’ at his current club amid reports he will leave as a free agent this summer.

The former Borussia Dortmund player joined Barcelona from the Bundesliga giants in a staggering £120million deal in 2017. But he has failed to live up to expectations at the Nou Camp, with injuries and fitness issues the primary concern.

Despite this, Barca are believed to be keen to keep him – and have even tabled him an extension. Still, La Liga giants were not able to reach an agreement with French forward.

Premier League side Chelsea have also been strongly linked to him, the 25-year-old. But it looks like their hopes of a switch will be dashed after Dembele commented on his future.

According to a report in Sportsmail, a supporter spotted Dembele on holiday at a traffic light and decided to take the opportunity to question him about the rampant speculation.

“Are you staying at Barca?’ the fan asked, to which the winger replied ‘yes’.

“You do not want to work with [Thomas] Tuchel?” the fan questions in reference to the interest from Chelsea.

Dembele then said, “I’m fine in Barcelona.”

Thomas Tuchel has already worked with Dembele, having been his manager at Dortmund.

Regardless of his comments, he has just two weeks until his deal in Barca runs out, meaning he would be able to sign for another club for free.
