Sevilla 1-0 Osasuna: Ocampos penalty ends Sevilla’s losing streak

Sevilla have managed to end their losing streak with a narrow 1-0 win against Osasuna at home.

The hosts were under immense pressure, particularly their manager Julen Lopetegui, before the game and so a win was desperate for them.

Both sides played out a sedate first half although Osasuna tried to trouble the home side, whose defence was equally up to the task.

Sevilla were awarded a penalty after Lucas Ocampos was brought down in the box. The Argentine had his shot saved by goalkeeper Sergio Herrera, much to the dismay of Lopetegui. Luckily, Herrera was spotted moving from the line before the penalty was taken, which allowed Sevilla to retake the penalty. Ocampos found success this time around as he sent the keeper the wrong side.

The goal was the only and final one of the game as Sevilla ensured three points in the league after a while.

Following their promising draw against Barcelona away, it has been a decline for the Andalusian outfit, losing three straight games in La Liga. Perhaps, all of them were narrow defeats except the Athletic Bilbao Clash, in which they slipped up the early lead.

Nonetheless, their Champions League form has been completely different as they are without a defeat after three games. Sevilla opened their UCL campaign with a win against Rennes and then followed with a draw against Chelsea.

In last week’s home clash against Krasnodar, they overcame their 2-0 deficit to 3-2 in the end, thanks to a brace from Youssef En-Nesyri.
