Lionel Messi eyeing PSG move after holding talks with Mauricio Pochettino

Lionel Messi is eyeing PSG move, as he held talks with Mauricio Pochettino. Manchester City could be the other viable option for the Argentine.

Lionel Messi-Barcelona

The Argentine talisman has been recently relieved from Barcelona.

Barcelona have recently announced that they would be parting ways with Lionel Messi, citing the contractual issues.

The Argentine was believed to sign a new deal before Barca encountered a new problem at the last minute – La Liga’s financial regulations would not allow Messi to continue.

The decision has since sparked speculations on where his future lies, with many reports claiming PSG and Manchester City as potential suitors.

According to a new report, PSG looks like a possible destination and the French giants have opened talks with the 34-year-old regarding a summer move.

Les Parisiens had been chasing Messi for a while before reports emerged he had agreed to a new five year deal with the Catalan club, with new president Joan Laporta playing a key role in it.

Now, The French giants have a better chance to add Messi to their ranks after the player is said to have contacted manager Mauricio Pochettino as soon as his new deal with Barca fell apart.

Although PSG are piled up with superstars and have had a productive transfer window so far – capturing the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Sergio Ramos, the Ligue 1 giants are confident they can afford the skyrocketing salary of Messi. The report also adds that the French giants believe Messi’s sign will increase their commercial value.

Man City have been left out of the race as they have recently spent £100m for the signing of Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish.

Pochettino’s presence could be vital in luring Lionel Messi to Parc des Princes, let alone his former teammate and best friend Neymar, who had earlier revealed his dream to reunite with the Six-time Ballon d’Or winner.

With Kylian Mbappe expected to stay, a potential front three of Neymar, Messi and Mbappe would wreak havoc to the opponents.
