The Argentine gaffer is highly favoured by Manchester United for the managerial position.

Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as the top candidate for the managerial job at Manchester United.

Reports have been circulating lately that the Argentine is unhappy at PSG and ready to accept Man Utd’s offer.

According to a report from Mirror, PSG sporting director Leonardo held an emergency meeting with Pochettino on Monday night to know about his stance.

The report also adds that Leanardo has learnt from the meeting that Pochettino doesn’t want to leave the French capital immediately but could prefer a move to Old Trafford at the end of this season.

The Red Devils have appointed Michael Carrick as their new interim manager after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, they are keen to land Pochettino before the end of this season though they will have to pay a compensation of 10m pounds to Paris Saint-Germain.

In contrast, the former Tottenham boss has recently played down the links with Manchester United, insisting that he is completely focused on PSG.

Pochettino said (h/t Sky Sports): “I am focused. I am very focused on football. I am not a child, I spend my whole life playing football, and now my 12th year being coach, we’re in a business that the rumours are there. I understand what is going on.

“This kind of thing cannot distract. Rumours are there, we need to live with that. We are so focused, giving 100 per cent to get our best from the club and the players. I am so happy at Paris Saint-Germain, for tomorrow we are so focused to get the best results we can.”

Les Parisiens are said to have lined up Zinedine Zidane as a potential replacement in the event of Pochettino’s departure.
