Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Valencia winger Ferran Torres.
The player is out of contract in 2021 and therefore the Spanish side have decided to sell him this summer.
The news will come as a boost for the Reds, who are expected to make a move for the winger.
Torres is highly rated in Spain and he could prove to be a quality long term addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool have two world class wingers like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. However, Klopp needs more depth in those positions.
Someone like Torres could play as a backup for now and then develop into a starter.
With Shaqiri expected to leave the Reds, they must bring in quality back up wingers. It will be interesting to see if they can agree on a deal with Valencia in the coming months.
Liverpool certainly have the finances to pull it off and Valencia will be tempted to sell if the right offer comes along.
As for the player, it wouldn’t be hard convincing him. He would be joining one of the top clubs in world football right now and Liverpool can offer him a better contract than Valencia.
Furthermore, he would get the chance to compete in the Champions League regularly and fight for Premier League titles.
Ferran Torres has a £80 million buyout clause but Valencia are prepared to sell him for less. His suitors are highly unlikely to pay over the odds in this market.
