Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants to stay at the club.

The Gabonese forward has been linked with a move away from the club in the recent weeks. His deal is set to expire next summer and no agreement has been reached regarding an extension.

However, Arteta seems optimistic that the striker’s future lies with Arsenal.

Aubameyang has been in spectacular form since joining the club and he managed to score his 50th goal for the club last night in just 79 games. No other Arsenal player has reached that landmark faster.

Losing him would be a massive blow for Arsenal and they must do everything in their power to keep him at the club.

Aubameyang will be crucial to their ambitions and he could help them get back into the Champions League once again.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Arteta said: “He is willing to stay with us. He is really happy where he is. He can see what we are trying to do and hopefully he can evolve as well some parts of his game he might feel he can improve. We are pushing him every day. I leave that to the football club and the senior people that finalise the contracts.

“Auba knows really well what my thoughts are towards him and the project that I want to create, and how much he is part of that. And after that it is not in my hands.”

Recently, Bukayo Saka committed his long term future to the Gunners as well. The youngster was linked with a move away but Arsenal managed to convince him to sign an extension.
