Arsenal have been looking for a quality back up for Hector Bellerin for a while now.
They tried to bring in Debuchy, Jenkinson etc to solve that problem but the Gunners have not found a solution yet.
It seems that young defender Jordi Osei-Tutu could hand Arteta a major boost next season.
The youngster has done very well during his loan spell at Bochum and he could be the ideal backup for Bellerin next season.
It is likely that Bellerin will play most games and therefore bringing in established players as backups will not work. The new signings will want to play more often and they will be unhappy if they don’t get enough playing time. That was the case with Debuchy earlier.
Hector Bellerin remains committed to Arsenal now, but will reportedly consider for a long-term contract only if he finds sustained improvement in performances.
As Mikel Arteta has been working on rejuvenating Arsenal, and he sees Bellerin as a vital figure in the squad. But Bellerin has repeatedly been linked to other clubs. Serie A duo Inter Milan and Juventus are the latest clubs who are recently linked with the spaniard. But Bellerin seems to have enough faith in his fellow countryman who replaced Unai Emery in current season.
In any situation, Osei-Tutu would be useful, as he is a young player who would love to gain some first team experience and he would be more than happy to fill in as Bellerin’s back up for now.
He will know that he is not ready to start every week yet and he will look to continue his development for now.
Training with the first team will only help him improve as a player. Also, he could get to play in the cup games next season and that could be invaluable experience for him.
If he manages to improve and takeover from Bellerin in future, it would save Arsenal millions as well.
It seems that the youngster could solve multiple problems for Arteta and the Gunners will be delighted with how he has developed during his loan spell.
The youngster can now fix a major problem for Arteta without any investments and the Arsenal boss can concentrate on improving the other areas of his squad.
