Alex Telles on Sevilla’s radar

Alex Telles-Bruno Fernandes-Manchester United

Manchester United defender Alex Telles has been linked with a move away from the club as the Old Trafford outfit prepares for a clear-out.

The left-back was signed from Porto for a fee of around £15m in 2020 but he has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at Old Trafford.

Initially, he failed to dislodge Luke Shaw from the starting lineup but he did play quite a bit last season because of the Englishman’s injuries.

But Manchester United have now signed Tyrell Malacia and Telles is likely to fall further down the pecking order. There is no point in the player staying at Old Trafford as the third choice left back and therefore a move would be ideal for his career and development.

Malacia is likely to battle it out with Shaw for the starting berth in the upcoming season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the defender is a target for Sevilla, who are monitoring his situation.

Romano has further stated that any potential move would be a loan deal and Manchester United will have to cover a part of his wages.

It will be interesting to see where Telles ends up. He has proven himself to be a useful wing back and Sevilla could use his attacking qualities in the same way they used Sergio Reguilon in the past.

Reguilon was on loan at Sevilla before his move to Tottenham and he excelled in the role of an attacking full-back.
