Andreas Christensen set to sign new Chelsea deal

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is all set to sign a new contract with the London club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is an agreement with the player to extend his current deal and it is only a matter of time before a formal announcement is made.

The paper works of the extension are yet to be signed and it will be done once the final clauses are fixed between the two parties.

The fans will certainly be delighted to see that the club are determined to hold on to their best players.

The 25-year-old has been outstanding for Thomas Tuchel since the German’s arrival at Stamford Bridge and it is no surprise that the Blues are looking to hold on to him for the long run.

Christensen is yet to reach his peak as a defender and he is likely to improve further with experience and game time.

The 25-year-old had an exceptional European Championships with Denmark as well.

With the likes of Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta in their twilight years, the Blues need to start planning for the future and Christensen will certainly be a big part of it.

Christensen has formed an impressive partnership with Antonio Rudiger at the heart of Chelsea’s defence and the German international is also believed to be in talks regarding a contract extension with the Blues.

Their defensive form was crucial to their Champions League win last season and it will be interesting to see if the Blues can win the Premier League title this time around.
