Antonio Conte’s comments on Paul Pogba vindicated amid rumours of reunion at Manchester United

Former Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks.

Although manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job is under no threat, the Old Trafford hierarchy are thought to be keeping tabs on potential replacements should the Norwegian fail to live up to the expectations.

Manchester United spent heavily during the summer transfer window and they will be hoping to challenge for the Premier League title and the Champions League this season.

The Red Devils have done well in the Premier League so far but they are opening game in the Champions league was highly disappointing and a defeat against Young Boys has fuelled speculations surrounding sauce jeers future at Old Trafford.

Conte is thought to be one of the three options for Manchester United to replace the Norwegian.

The likes of Zinedine Zidane and Brendan Rodgers have been mentioned as options as well.

Conte’s appointment at Manchester United would see him reunite with the French international Paul Pogba.

The two have worked together during their time at Juventus and they shared a close bond.

Conte played a key role in the development of the Frenchman who was extremely young at the time.

Back then the Italian predicted Pogba to reach the very top and the 28-year-old World Cup winner has certainly lived up to the expectations.

Conte said back then: “In the space of a year and a half, Pogba has developed in an exceptional way. He’s got all the potential to reach the very top.”

Pogba is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in the world on current form and he has been putting in scintillating displays for the Red Devils in the Premier League this season.

The player has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months and it will be interesting to see if Manchester United can convince him to commit his long term future to the club.
