Arsenal agree Tomiyasu deal

Arsenal have agreed on a deal to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu from Serie A club Bologna.

According to the Guardian, the Premier League side are set to pay a £17 million fee for the 22 year old Japanese international.

Tomiyasu has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham this summer but the Gunners have managed to swoop in and secure his services.

The defender is all set to undergo his medical with Arsenal this afternoon and a doctor flown out to Italy to conduct the necessary tests.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been abysmal at the back so far this season and they needed to sign a quality defender.

It will be interesting to see if Tomiyasu can adapt to Premier League football and make an immediate impact at the London club this season.

The Japanese international can play as a right-back as well as a centre back and his versatility will be an added bonus for Arsenal and Arteta.

Bellerin heading to Real Betis

Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is closing in on a move to Real Betis.

According to The Athletic, the 26-year-old defender is set to join the Spanish club on loan after falling down the pecking order at the London club. Real Betis will not have any option to sign the player permanently.

Arteta has preferred Cedric Soares ahead of the Spaniard and Bellerin is not keen on wasting another season on Arsenal’s bench.

Apparently, Bellerin is taking a pay cut to join the Spanish outfit before the window closes.
