Chelsea Transfer: Blues contact Wesley Fofana’s agents, Rudiger unhappy with contract offer

Anthony Rudiger of Chelsea againsr Leicester City in Premier League

Chelsea keen on Wesley Fofana

Chelsea are interested in signing the French defender Wesley Fofana from Leicester City.

According to a report from Footmercato, the Premier League giants have contacted the defender’s representatives directly and the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid are thought to be keen on the player as well.

The 20-year-old centre back joined Leicester City back in 2020 and he has been quite impressive for the Foxes.

There is no doubt that he has the potential to succeed at a bigger club and a move to Chelsea could be the ideal next step in his career.

Thomas Tuchel has improved the Blues defensively since his arrival and he could help the young Frenchman fulfil his potential at Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old has established himself as a key defender for Leicester and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League side are willing to let him leave in the coming months.

It is fair to assume that a transfer is unlikely in January and therefore the Blues might have to wait until the end of the season to sign the young Frenchman. Leicester are unlikely to weaken their squad midway through the season and any transfer would have to wait until the summer.

Rudiger unhappy with contract offer

Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is thought to be disappointed with the latest contract offer from the club.

According to the Sun, the German international feels that the lowball offer is a slap in the face.

The 28-year-old has established himself as a key player since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and he helped Chelsea win the Champions League last season.

It will be interesting to see if the Blues can convince him to commit his long term future to the club.

Rudiger is thought to be demanding wages of around £190,000 a week but Chelsea are prepared to offer him £130,000 a week instead. The two parties have not been able to agree on a deal yet.

The player feels that Chelsea’s offer is disrespectful and it remains to be seen whether the defender decides to leave Stamford Bridge upon the expiry of his current deal.
