Dortmund pour cold water over Man Utd’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho

Manchester United confident of signing Jadon Sancho

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Jadon Sancho all summer but their pursuit is likely to end in defeat.

The German club were open to selling the player by the 10th of August but United failed to agree on a deal in that time. The Old Trafford club are still nowhere near to matching the asking price for the England international.

Dortmund are under no pressure to sell and Sancho is highly likely to continue in the Bundesliga.

He managed to pick up 20 goals and 20 assists in all competitions for Dortmund last year and United needed someone like him to challenge for the title. Sancho would have transformed Solskjaer’s side.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United decide to return for Sancho next summer.

They have been linked with Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele as an alternative recently and it will be interesting to see if they end up signing the Frenchman in the next few days.

Speaking to the media about the winger’s future, Dortmund chief Michael Zorc said: “Everything there is to tell on this matter from our end has already been said. And that won’t change over the next three days.”

Unless there is a massive offer on the table late on in the window and Sancho decides to force a move, the transfer seems impossible this summer. It seems that Dortmund are now relying on Sancho to play for them this season.
