Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is apparently keeping his options open regarding his future.
Apparently, the Premier League club have held talks regarding a new deal with the player but the Belgian international is not prepared to give a definitive answer regarding his future at the club just yet.
He said: “There’s no update really. I’m open to everything. The transfer market has just closed, but I want to keep as many options as I can open.
“As long as I’m here I will give everything for the club. I’ve already done so, but I will do so even more. The contract situation is just something that is going on in football, it’s a normal situation.
“There are talks going on – I’m not saying I’m going to sign, I’m not saying I’m not going to sign. We will see.”
The player has been heavily linked with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid recently.
Tielemans has developed into a top-class Premier League midfielder since his £35 million move to Leicester City from Monaco in 2019 and it is no surprise that he is keeping his options open. It is likely that the player is tempted with the interest of top European clubs.
The midfielder will want to play at a higher level and compete for trophies on a regular basis.
Although Leicester City have an ambitious project they are not quite at the level of Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Brendan Rodgers will want to hold onto his key midfielder for the long run and it remains to be seen whether the Premier League side can offer him a lucrative contract and convince him to commit his future to the club.
Tielemans has picked up 18 goals and 19 assists in 113 appearances for Leicester City in all competitions and he has the potential to develop into a world-class footballer with experience and coaching.
