Liverpool are looking to improve their defensive options with the signing of the Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
According to a report from El Nacional via Teamtalk, the defender is keen on a switch to the Merseyside club, and he has already accepted an offer from the Premier League giants. The player was reportedly a target for Chelsea as well.
Apparently, Liverpool are now willing to activate his release clause of around £75 million.
The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best defenders in Spain, and he was tracked by Real Madrid as well.
The report from El Nacional adds that Jurgen Klopp wants to sign the French defender this month as he believes that there will be more competition for his services during the summer transfer window.
Sevilla have been quite impressive in the Spanish league this season, and they are currently second in the league table. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to sell their best defender midway through the season. Losing someone like Kounde this month could derail their title race.
Kounde has played in 17 league matches so far this season, and severe have managed to keep nine clean sheets during that time. The Spanish giants have also conceded just 13 goals in 20 league matches so far this season.
