Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been linked with a move away from Elland Road and it appears that the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool are keen on securing his services.

According to the Sun, the 26-year-old midfielder would prefer to join the Merseyside outfit instead of joining the Red Devils out of loyalty for Leeds.

Manchester United and Leeds United share a bitter rivalry and it is no surprise that Phillips is unwilling to join Ralf Rangnick’s side.

The midfielder has been exceptional for Leeds since their promotion back to the Premier League and he has established himself as a key player for England as well.

Phillips had an impressive European Championships with Gareth Southgate’s side and he is likely to be a key part of the England squad for the upcoming World Cup as well.

There is no doubt that Phillips has the quality to play for a top Premier League club and a move to Liverpool or Manchester United could be ideal for his development.

The midfielder is yet to reach his peak and working with a manager like Jurgen Klopp could unlock his true potential.

The Reds could definitely use more quality and depth in the central midfield and Phillips would be an ideal fit for the Merseyside giants.

Having worked with Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, the 26-year-old midfielder is adept at a high pressing game and his defensive discipline makes him well suited to Liverpool’s style of play as well.

The 26-year-old would be a superb addition to Manchester United as well and it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils then convince him to move to Old Trafford in the near future.
