Liverpool have agreed a fee with Olympiacos for Kostas Tsimikas.

The 24-year-old left back is all set to arrive in England for his medical and to discuss personal terms with the Reds now.

The Reds tried to sign Jamal Lewis from Norwich initially, but they moved quickly to snap up Tsimikas after the Canaries demanded £20m for Lewis.

The Premier League champions will pay £11.75m for the Greek defender and it will be interesting to see if they can finalise the transfer in the coming hours.

Tsimikas has been excellent in the Europa League this season and he showed his quality against English opposition. He was impressive against the likes of Tottenham, Wolves and Arsenal. He should prove to be a good addition to Klopp’s defence.

The Reds needed to add more depth to their left back position and Tsimikas will battle it out with Robertson for the starting berth now.

Liverpool had to field the likes of Milner/Gomez as their left backs at times last season and now they will have a specialist cover for Robertson.

It will be interesting to see how the Greek international performs in the Premier League next season. He has the talent to succeed in English football but it might take him some time to adapt to a new league.

Tsimikas is rapid with the ball at his feet and he is an excellent crosser as well. He could add a new dimension to Liverpool’s attack as well.
