The Reds are among the clubs interested in signing Sampdoria youngster Mikkel Damsgaard.

Liverpool are among the clubs keeping tabs on Sampdoria youngster Mikkel Damsgaard and reportedly considering a late move for him.

The Reds face competition from fellow Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Leeds United while Tottenham are said to have cooled their interest in the Danish star.

The 21-year is one of the coveted young creative midfielders in Europe at the moment and his stock has risen following a stellar Euro 2020 campaign.

After replacing Christian Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest, Damsgaard went on to rack up 2 goals and an assist in 5 games while helping Denmark reach the semi-finals.

Sampdoria have been reluctant to sell their prized asset so far in the transfer window but reports are stating that they could part ways with him for an appropriate fee before Tuesday’s deadline.

The Serie A outfit value Damsgaard around 34m pounds and Liverpool can afford it given that they haven’t spent much in the transfer window thus far.

The Reds have recently parted ways with Xherdan Shaqiri and the Danish playmaker can be a perfect replacement for him.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are off to an impressive start to the Premier League, not losing any games thus far although they are not heavy spenders in the transfer window – bar the signing of Ibrahim Konate.

Furthermore, the Reds can guarantee Damsgaard Champions League football, unlike Leeds and Villans.

The Dane also can take his game to the next level under the guidance of a top-class manager like Klopp.
