Manchester United rejected Harry Maguire and Frenkie de Jong, swap-deal offer from Barcelona

Harry Maguire-Manchester United

Barcelona are eyeing Harry Maguire as Manchester United were looking to sign Frenkie de Jong from Camp Nou.

Manchester United’s new manager Erik Ten Hag refused the offer and the club are willing to buy De Jong in a straight cash deal for £69million instead.

Although the agreement for De Jong is still ongoing, Erik Ten Hag is hoping for a good ending and can meet his new players for the start of pre-season training at Carrington. Ten Hag knows the potential of the 25-year-old midfielder as they worked together at Ajax. He believes that he could fit the new set of a team along with Maguire for the next season. Meanwhile, Maguire is happy and certain to stay at the Red Devils at this point of his career.

According to The Sun, Ten Hag is also hoping to seal the deal with Christian Eriksen, who is currently deciding between them and Brentford.

Elsewhere, Manchester United are on their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia at the end of next week.
