Newcastle United have been linked with a number of managers in recent weeks and it appears that the Premier League side are keeping tabs on the Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.

The 51-year-old has done an exceptional job with the Dutch outfit and the new owners want him to lead the revolution at St James’s Park.

Steve Bruce recently left the club after a disastrous start to the season.

According to a report from Chronicle, the magpies will have to produce an exceptional and extraordinary offer to lure the 51-year-old to the Premier League.

Apparently, Erik ten Hag is not the only one Newcastle are looking to poach away from Ajax and they are keen on the club’s director of football Marc Overmars as well.

It is evident that the new owners want to reshape the club hierarchy and the appointments of Overmars and ten Hag could prove to be superb acquisitions.

They have done a great job in rebuilding Ajax in a sustainable manner and Newcastle are clearly looking to follow the blueprint. The new owners have always maintained that they are looking to grow the club organically and they need to make the right appointments in order for that to happen.

It remains to be seen whether the magpies can bring in a new manager quickly and turn their season around. The arrival of the Ajax manager would add a distinct style of play to the side. Ten Hag is known for his free-flowing attacking style of football and the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin could benefit from his arrival.

Newcastle are currently 19th in the league table and they are in desperate need of some positive results.
