Premier League table simulation after Newcastle takeover: Top four and relegations predicted

Premier League table simulation by FiveThirtyEight have extrapolated and endorsed existing trend in the English league. The transfer window in January could disrupt this prediction. The Magpies who are fighting to avoid relegation have to be super active during winter transfer, to defy the free-fall.

The multi-million-pound takeover of Newcastle United has created a buzz around the Premier League over the past few days and data experts FiveThirtyEight have now created a simulation of the remaining Premier League games and have predicted a final Premier League table.

As per the data, Chelsea are expected to continue their impressive start to the season and eventually finish in the third position in the Premier League table.

The simulation expects the Blues to finish with 77 points behind the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Blues managed to win the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel last season and they have had an impressive summer transfer window. Roman Abramovich will not be pleased with the third finish and it remains to be seen whether the Blues can bring the title back to Stamford Bridge this season.

Manchester City have been tipped to defend their title and they are in first place after the simulation with 84 points. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are expected to pick up 79 points in the end.

However, the simulated table makes a grim reading for Newcastle fans who are expected to finish 18th in the table with 35 points. The magpies have had a dreadful start to the season and they are currently in the relegation zone.

The last thing the new owners would want is for the club to be in the bottom three, come the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see if Newcastle can turn their form around with new signings in the January transfer window. Ideally, the Premier League side should look to bring in a quality manager to replace Steve Bruce as well.

A club of Newcastle’s stature should be fighting for the top end of the Premier League and the new owners will be desperate for them to beat the drop this year.
