PSG have decided to withdraw from their pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.

Paris Saint-Germain have been reported to be hugely interested in the Frenchman; they looked to pounce on Pogba’s contract standoff with the Red Devils.

However, According to a new report, PSG’s priority is to sign Lionel Messi, who has recently left Barcelona, thus cooling their interest in Pogba.

Les Parisiens are understood to be leading the race for the Argentine ace, and various reports suggest that a move to the French Capital is only a matter of time.

Another report adds that the French giants would try to sign Pogba when his contract expires next summer.

The 28-year-old has been scrutinized in recent times for his performances at Man Utd, which, according to many, hasn’t been as good as his form at the national team.

Furthermore, Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola had earlier stated that his client was not happy at Old Trafford, thus fuelling his exit speculation.

Nonetheless, Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remained optimistic over Pogba’s contract extension and stated that he would be pivotal for the upcoming season.

It remains to be seen whether the Premier League side can convince the former Juventus star over fresh terms or would let him leave for nothing next year.

Pogba was one of the standout midfielders in Euro 2020, although France succumbed to a defeat in the round of 16 against Switzerland.
