Mourinho’s dig at Spurs

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has aimed a sly dig at the Premier League club recently.

The Portuguese manager was sacked by the London club in April following a series of poor results and he has now shared his thoughts on Harry Kane and the striker’s England hopes.

According to Mourinho, Kane will be under a lot of pressure this summer to win something with his country.

There is no doubt that the 27-year-old is the best striker in England and the fans will be expecting him to guide them to glory during the European Championships.

Mourinho believes that the Tottenham striker will want to win something at the international level because he is the captain of the side and he has not been able to enjoy success at the club level with Tottenham.

The former Spurs boss claims that Kane will do everything he can to win a trophy with the Three Lions this summer.

Mourinho said to The Sun: “Harry is the one that has on his shoulders a lot. The country expects a lot from him. He expects a lot from himself. He’s the captain and he wants to win something. He’s not doing that with the club, so, of course, he’s going to try everything he can to do it with the Three Lions.”

Mourinho’s remarks seemed to echo the sentiments of the supporters who are unhappy with the lack of ambition being shown at the club recently.

Tottenham were expected to appoint Antonio Conte as a long term successor for Jose Mourinho but the deal to bring the Italian to the London club has collapsed due to financial differences.

Some of the Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to claim that Mourinho is spot on with his assessment.

Kane overlooked for Player of the Season award

Meanwhile Manchester City defender Ruben Dias won the Premier League player of the season award this week and the decision seems quite baffling given the performance of Harry Kane this season.

The Tottenham striker has been in sublime form scoring 23 goals and adding 14 assists to his tally in just 35 appearances.

The England international was overlooked in favour of Dias who has been very impressive for Manchester City. However the Portuguese international simply did not outperform Kane and the England star should have won the award this season.
