Tottenham will get back to Premier League action this Thursday when they welcome London neighbours Brentford for a 14th Round game of the league season.

Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London)

Key Statistics

Tottenham have won seven of their last nine competitive home games (L2).

They have kept just two clean sheets at home this season, the last being in August.

Spurs are tied for the second-worst attacking record in the league, having only scored 11 goals from their 12 games so far.

Both teams have identical defensive records, having kept four clean sheets and conceded 17 goals so far this season.

Brentford are winless in their last two away games (D1, L1).

They have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine competitive games

Head to head

Tottenham are unbeaten in their past 11 meetings with Brentford in all competitions (won eight, drawn three), since a 2-0 loss in March 1948. This is the first-ever top-flight meeting between Tottenham and Brentford, with the Bees winning just one of their six second-tier meetings between 1947 and 1949 (D2 L3).

Tottenham

Tottenham could not play in the Premier League last weekend after their game with Burnley was postponed due to bad weather.

But they return to league action this Thursday looking to get back to winning ways after suffering a shock defeat to NS Mura in the EFL last week.

Under Antonio Conte, the hosts are expected to mount a push for a top-four finish. However, they still look like a team not ready to compete for the top places, as evidenced by their performance against Mura.

With a lot of rest under their belt, the hosts will be fresh and well prepared for this game. They currently occupy the seventh spot in the league table, four points behind fourth-placed West Ham, having played a game less.

A win here will keep them within the top places with the chance of overtaking any of the sides above them should they slip up.

PossibleTottenham starting line-ups

Hugo Lloris; Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, Ben Davies; Emerson Royale, Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Sergio Reguilon; Lucas Moura, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min.

Injured: Cristián Romero, Dane Scarlett,

Doubtful: Giovanni Lo Celso

Suspended: None

Brentford

Brentford finally broke their winless run at home when they beat Everton 1-0 over the weekend. The result was secured by an Ivan Toney penalty and ensured that Brentford finished the last round sitting in eleventh place.

The Bees are the most in form side among all the sides that were promoted to the top flight this summer, having record four wins and four draws (L1) since their elevation to the Premier League.

Thomas Frank’s side are not in danger of being in a relegation fight at the moment but must not take their games for granted if they want to survive the top flight.

Possible Brentford starting line-ups

Alvaro Fernandez; Charlie Goode, Ethan Pinnock, Pontus Jansson; Sergi Canos, Christian Norgaard, Frank Onyeka, Vitaly Janelt, Rico Henry; Ivan Toney, Yoane Wissa.

Injured: David Raya, Kristoffer Ajer and Josh Dasilva.

Doubtful: Mathias Jorgensen

Prediction

Tottenham 2-1 Brentford
