Benfica are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno this summer according to reports.

The Arsenal goalkeeper is expected to leave the Emirates side this summer after losing his place in the side to Aaron Ramsdale

Benfica are the side leading the chase for his signature, but the Portuguese side are reportedly hesitant to meet the Gunners’ valuation of £8.5million.

According to The Sun, Benfica have made their intentions known to Arsenal, but the two clubs are far apart in their evaluation of the 30-year-old German.

The Germany international was an ever-present name on the team’s sheet until this season when he lost his place to Aaron Ramsdale. He made just four Premier League appearances this season while he featured only eight times across all competitions.

And his time at Arsenal seems to be over as Mikel Arteta’s side have already struck a deal to bring in New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner in July.

Leno isn’t the only Arsenal player expected to leave. The report by The Sun also states that a host of other players could join Leno at the exit door this summer.

Matteo Guendouzi and Konstantinos Mavropanos have already secured permanent switches to Marseille and Stuttgart, respectively.

Hector Bellerin, Pablo Mari, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Lucas Torreira could also depart permanently, having all been out on loan this season.
