Chelsea Transfer Update: Thiago Silva new deal, Zouma future, Upamecano boost

Thiago Silva-Thomas Tuchel-Chelsea

Thiago Silva new deal

Chelsea want to extend Thiago Silva’s contract at the club and it will be interesting to see if the Brazilian agrees to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

According to reports, the Blues are willing to extend his deal for another season and the final decision will now rest with the player.

The Brazilian has been outstanding for Chelsea since his move to the Premier League and he has managed to adapt to English football without any problems.

Despite his age, Silva seems fitter than ever and he could easily go on for another couple of seasons at the highest level.

His quality and leadership could be priceless for Chelsea and manager Thomas Tuchel and therefore the decision to extend his deal could prove to be a wise one.

Tuchel has worked with Thiago Silva during their time together at Paris Saint Germain and he knows all about the qualities, the Brazilian can offer him in the short term.

Kurt Zouma’s future beyond this season

Meanwhile Kurt Zouma’s future at Stamford Bridge is up in the air and it will be interesting to see what the player decides at the end of the season.

The Frenchman managed to establish himself as a starter under Frank Lampard but Antonio Rudiger has taken his place in the starting lineup since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.

Kurt Zouma needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and it will be interesting to see if the Blues decide to cash in on him this summer.

Upamecano Boost

The Blues have been linked with a move for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano and therefore Zouma is likely to fall further down the pecking order next season.

It will be interesting to see if the Blues can fend off competition from the likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich to sign the Frenchman at the end of the season.

They need to find a quality long term partner for Thiago Silva and Upamecano should prove to be a superb signing for them.

The French defender is one of the most talented young centre backs in world football right now and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Manchester United have dropped out of the race and that will come as a boost to the Blues.
