Chelsea picked up a 4-0 win over Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League earlier tonight.
The Blues came into the game needing a win to ensure that they win Group E and Frank Lampard will be delighted with his team’s performance here.
The Blues took the lead eight minutes into the game through Olivier Giroud. The Premier League side were dominant from start to finish and they doubled their advantage early on in the second half when the Frenchman doubled his tally.
Giroud completed his hat trick on the 74th minute and then wrapped up the scoring by scoring a penalty on the 83rd minute.
The French international was unplayable on the night and tonight’s performance will go down as one of the best striking displays from a Chelsea striker in the Champions League.
The former Arsenal striker has been on the fringes of the first team this season but he has managed to show just how important he can be for Chelsea this season.
He managed to score a vital goal against Rennes earlier this month as well. Furthermore, he was outstanding against Sweden for his country during the last international break.
It is evident that the French international is in a rich vein of form right now and Chelsea should look to start him ahead of Abraham in the coming weeks.
Sevilla will be thoroughly disappointed with their performance at home and Julen Lopetegui will demand a strong reaction from his players in the final group game next week.
