Inter Milan chief says Lautaro Martinez will sign a new deal; Jovic, Lacazette eyed

Lautaro Martinez-Inter Milan

Inter chief provides an update on Martinez’s contract situation

Inter Milan chief Beppe Marotta has provided an optimistic update on Lautaro Martinez’s contract situation, stating that the Argentine will pen a new deal sooner.

The Argentine striker was subject to speculations during the summer transfer window after key players like Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi left San Siro.

Premier League clubs Arsenal and Tottenham had been heavily interested in the 23-year-old during the summer window.

Now, Inter chief Marotta has emphasised that Martinez is a player for the future and his contract extension is only a matter of time.

Marotta said (h/t The Daily Mail): “We are going to announce his extension within ten days, he is the future of Inter and we want to keep him at the club.”

Martinez has taken the onus in the attack following the departure of Lukaku, racking up 5 goals in 6 Serie A games so far. He is also turning out to be a key player for the Argentine national team, recently playing a big part in the Copa America title win.

Jovic and Lacazette on Inter’s radar

Inter are looking to strengthen their attack in the January transfer window and have shortlisted Luka Jovic and Alexandre Lacazette as potential targets.

Jovic has failed to live up to his expectations at Real Madrid since his transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt and he is currently not in the plans of Carlo Ancelotti.

Arsenal striker Lacazette is another name considered by Nerazzurri as the French man is in the final year of his contract.

However, the Daily Mail reports that Inter should offload former Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez in order to facilitate any incomings.
