Napoli close in on Tanguy Ndombele’s capture on loan

Napoli are reportedly close to agreeing on a loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele

According to Sportsmail, the Serie A side are offering a £1m loan fee with a £26m option to buy for the Frenchman who is no longer wanted at the north London club.

According to the report, Napoli are confident of securing Ndombele’s signature while the player himself is said to have told teammates that he will be heading to the Naples-based club this summer.

Having lost Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea, Dries Mertens to Galatasaray and Lorenzo Insigne to Toronto FC this summer, Napoli are desperate to bolster their squad this summer to give them a fighting chance in the race for the Scudetto this year.

The Serie A side have opened their new season with a win over Verona, settling some of the discontents that was budding due to the club’s serious lack of transfer activity.

Ndombele joined Tottenham in 2019 from Lyon in a £55m deal. However, he has failed rather spectacularly to live up to any of his promises and was shipped out on loan to his former club in the second half of last season.

The French international was one of four players banished from first-team training by Antonio Conte this summer alongside Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon, and Giovani Lo Celso who has been signed by Villareal.

According to reports, negotiation between Tottenham transfer chief Fabio Paratici and his Napoli counterpart Cristiano Giuntoli has been smooth, and a deal is expected to be finalised in the coming days.
