Zidane could be on the brink as relationship sours with senior players

Zinedine Zidane-Real Madrid

Zidane’s second spell at Real Madrid is on the brink of collapse, following a bad run of results and fallout with his stars.

After winning the La Liga title last season, the Frenchman has found it hard in recent times as the Spanish giants sit in 4th place in the league and are on the brink of elimination in the Champions League.

The former Real Madrid player is now under pressure as the possibility of dropping to the Europa League looms large on the horizon.

With his team without a win in three games, calls have been growing louder for the Frenchman to be sacked.

And now reports have emerged that Zidane is facing a major dressing room crisis as he has reportedly fallen out with many of his players.

According to a report in Spain, the relationship between the Madrid man and large portion of his dressing room has been “ruptured”, with the coach losing faith in a lot of his players.

Eden Hazard, who suffered another injury setback last weekend against Alaves, Martin Odegaard, as well as Brazilian pair Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo are some names reportedly on Zidane’s fall list.

It is also claimed that the World Cup winner is also irritated by the attitudes of experienced pair Marcelo and Toni Kroos while midfielder Isco is reportedly no longer in the coach’s plans.

Only a handful of players are still in the coach’s good books. They are reportedly captain Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Ferland Mendy, Casemiro, Fede Valverde and Karim Benzema.

Zidane made history when he became the first coach to win three straight European Cups. He could, however, become the first Madrid coach to fail to qualify from the group stage if they fail to win against Monchengladbach.

Madrid are reportedly lining up Pochettino as his replacement should things get worse. The former Tottenham coach has repeatedly made public his desire to one day manage the club.
