Manchester City crashed out of the champions league after a 3-1 defeat against Lyon earlier today.

Guardiola has now failed to reach the Champions League final with Manchester City in his four years at the club. After having spent so much money on new players, it will be a devastating blow to the Premier League side.

City were one of the favourites to win the tournament this season, and it will be interesting to see how their fanbase reacts to this elimination now.

The Spaniard has won every other available trophy at Manchester City, and he would have expected His players to deliver the Champions League this year.

Cornet handed Lyon the lead on the 24th minute earlier today, and Manchester City had to wait until the second half to get back into the game.

Star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne scored the equaliser for Manchester City. However, Lyon got back ahead soon after.

Moussa Dembele scored for the French side 10 minutes after Kevin De Bruyne’s equaliser. The former Celtic star scored his second of the game on the 87th minute to seal a massive win for the French side.

City had the chance to get back into the game, but Raheem Sterling missed a glorious chance on the 85th minute.

He had an open goal in front of him, but the English winger lasted high and wide.

City have now finished the season with just one trophy which is the League Cup. After the kind of money they spent in the summer, that is simply not good enough.

It will be interesting to see if Lyon can go on to win the Champions League this season. They certainly have the talent to do so.

The French outfit have now eliminated the likes of Juventus and Manchester City in two consecutive rounds, and they will be full of confidence heading into the semi-finals of the competition.
