The Italian midfielder has the chance to start in the finals of the Champions League.
PSG manager Thomas Tuchel has claimed that Marco Verratti could play in the Champions League finals.
The Italian midfielder was absent for the Atalanta clash owing to a calf injury and almost missed the entire semi-final against RB Leipzig, where PSG came out on top.
Now with doubts looming over his presence for the final against Bayern, Tuchel has confirmed that Verratti is a safe bet.
Tuchel said,
“Marco and Idrissa have trained with us since the Leipzig match. No issues at all. They will be involved in the entire training session, so they are available, “
“Well, he was hit. It wasn’t a muscle injury. The risk isn’t great. If he is comfortable, if he is not in pain, it is different.”
The German manager also added that the possibility of playing for the entirety of the game – including prospective additional time – is less for the midfielder.
“Obviously he won’t be able to play 90-120 minutes, especially in midfield where we expect a lot of intensity. We will see if he can start or end it for us.”
Leandro Paredes was the surprise inclusion in the semifinals as a replacement for Verratti though he emerged as the top midfielder.
Tuchel also looks uncertain over the availability of Keylor Navas, who has been missing since the return of Champions League owing to injury.
It will be interesting to see whether Tuchel would start Verratti in the finals or gamble with Paredes as he did against Leipzig.
