Belgium 3-1 Wales: De Bruyne leads a comeback win, Belgium hammer Wales

Romelu Lukaku-Belgium

The Red Devils cruised to a comfortable win against Gareth Bale’s Welsh side.

Belgium kicked off their World Cup qualifying campaign with a comprehensive 3-1 win against Wales.

Perhaps, FIFA’s No.1 ranked side conceded an early goal, with Harry Wilson finding the nets for Wales after combining brilliantly with Gareth Bale.

Belgium responded with back to back goals in no time, with Kevin De Bruyne and Thorgan Hazard finding the nets before Romelu Lukaku put the game to bed from the penalty spot in the second half.

Roberto Martinez’s side proved once again they are the No. 1 ranked team, staging an impressive comeback win.

On the other hand, Wales were sloppy and even Bale failed to make a big impact despite his involvement in the first goal.

The on-loan Tottenham star has recently commented that one of the reasons for his loan move from Real Madrid is to gain match fitness ahead of the Euros.

However, tonight’s performance showed that he is far from returning to his usual best at the Welsh side.

Bale also commented on Wales’ sloppy mistakes, which proved costly in the defeat.

“It was great to get an early goal, it was going well, but a few sloppy mistakes let them back in.

We knew at half-time the next goal would be crucial, if they got it, it makes it very difficult. We showed good spirit, but it wasn’t meant to be, so we take the positives out of the game.”

Spurs defender Joe Rodon had another great performance although Wales ended up as the losing side.

Wales will look for redemption when they face the Czech Republic in a crucial game next week.
