Lebanon

Lebanon’s start to the World Cup qualifier campaign have not gone as planned as they have won just one of their opening five games and are sitting in third place with just five points.

They began their journey in Group A against UAE in the opening game, where they shared the spoils in a goalless match.

Since that draw with their Tuesday hosts, Lebanon have picked up another four points, with one draw and a hard-fought victory against Syria, which saw them win a five-goal thriller.

But they were unable to build on that good result during their most recent outing, as they fell to a 2-1 loss against the current table-toppers Iran – a match that saw them control just 29% of the possession.

Ivan Hasek’s team will be hoping to get all three points against UAE and solidify their grip of third place.

Possible Lebanon starting line-ups

Mostafa Matar (GK); Abbas Assi, Robert Alexander Melki, Joan Oumari, Kassem El Zein; Mouhammed-Ali Dhaini, George Felix Melki, Bassel Jradi; Mohamad Haidar, Hilal El-Helwe, Rabih Ataya.

UAE

The United Arab Emirates are still waiting for their first win in this World Cup qualifying round, having drawn three and lost two of their opening games.

They are currently occupying the fifth place in the group and have taken just three points so far.

The visitors have only managed to score three times so far and will be hoping to sort that problem out as they attempt to move up the table.

With only one point ahead of Syria going into this game, a defeat on Tuesday could see them slump to the foot of the table.

They will be desperate to avoid falling down the table and will fancy their chances of putting up a big performance.

Possible UAE starting line-ups

Ali Khasif (GK); Bandar Al-Ahbabi, Shahin Abdulrahman, Mohammed Al-Attas, Walid Abbas; Ali Salmeen, Yahia Nader, Fabio Lima, Abdullah Ramadan, Khalil Ibrahim; Ali Mabkhout.

Prediction

Lebanon 1-0 UAE
