East Bengal confirm talks with Robbie Fowler as their new manager. Previously it was reported that Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler was in advanced talks to become the head coach of new ISL club, East Bengal FC.

Former Indian international Renedy Singh will assist the Liverpool legend.

The Indian Super League side want to bring it a young and hungry manager who is keen to prove himself and Fowler certainly fits the bill.

It will be interesting to see how the former Liverpool player fares in India now, especially in management.

Robbie Fowler was one of the best strikers of his time, and he could prove to be a massive influence on young Indian players.

He has played at the highest level with the top clubs in Europe, and he could add a new dimension to East Bengal’s football this season.

Fowler has coached Brisbane Roar previously, and he did an impressive job in the A-League and helped Brisbane based outfit to finish fourth in top Australian league.

He has the pedigree to succeed in Indian football as well.

The former Liverpool striker has an immense fan following in India owing to his connections with the premier league giants And his arrival at East Bengal could boost their fan base as well.

East Bengal have now confirmed their interest in Fowler.

“We have had a series of talks with Fowler, but I cannot say ‘yes’ now with responsibility. I can only say Fowler can also be our coach,” Hari Om Bangur, the principal owner of the club told PTI from Dubai.

“(The) coach will decide the players, so we will have to appoint him at the earliest. We will make the announcement within a couple of days,” he added.
