Wasteful Hyderabad FC shares point with Jamshedpur FC in a goalless draw

Hyderabad FC-Jamshedpur FC

The match between Hyderabad FC and Jamshedpur FC remained goalless till the final whistle. The result confined the Nizams to the 4th spot whereas the Red Miners remained at the 7th position in Indian Super League table.

Although both teams have started their way at the middle in an attacking mode, it bore no fruit. Within the first few minutes from the start, there were freekicks and corners for both the teams.

At the 9th minute, a left-footed shot by Joel Chianese was saved at the bottom right corner of the goal. From then to the half-time, Rehenesh Paramba produced a series of fine saves, to keep his team from lagging behind.

Two fouls were done by Akash Mehta and Aitor Monroy for The Nizams and the Red miners respectively. The situation was getting heated but the referee did a fine job controlling the field. At the 21st minute, Hyderabad got a good chance, as Halicharan Nazary shot from the left side of the box which was saved at the bottom right corner. Two minutes later Hitesh Sharma from Hyderabad FC was shown the yellow card for a nasty foul.

Following that, two shots from Peter Harley and Nazary were saved by Rehenesh. The Nizams were frequently attacking the Red miner’s fort but to no avail. At the 41st minute, Jamshedpur got a golden chance, as Hyderabad keeper, Laxmikant Kattimani missed the ball following a cross from Aitor Monroy. Stephen Eze headed it in, only to be denied by the woodwork. There was not much drama after then till halftime.

The second half saw more tosses and tumbles, without any useful result. Peter Hartley was shown a yellow card for blocking Mohammad Yasir. Soon, it was followed by a brilliant run from Chianese who started from the midfield but eventually lost the ball in the box.

The Nizams started attacking from both sides as Yasir and Akash Mishra attacked back to back from the right and left flank respectively in a few minute’s intervals. At this point, Jamshedpur started the counter-attack from the left. A brilliant combination of touch and pass for Jamshedpur began from  Farukh Choudhary and Ricky Lallawmawma. However, it ended as Ricky lost possession in the box.

Joyner Lourenco received a yellow card as he tried to block Aridane Santana in the 75th minute. After the cooling break at this point, two teams got one corner each. Liston Colaco and Monroy whipped the ball but failed to find the net at the end. Jamshedpur FC had a shot on target at the 87th minute, when Nerijus Valskis missed a half chance. There was drama till the last minute, as Hitesh Sharma took the freekick. Rehenesh came charging and missed the ball, only to be cleared by Eze with a header.

Hero of the Match: Aridane Santana

The performance of Aridane Santana was absolutely perfect in this match, and with his imposing presence, he got the Hero of the Match award. 46 touches, 33 passes and 4 clearances- he made sure that his time did not concede and had enough chances.

Both teams have fought well but it was Hyderabad FC’s match to lose. The Nizams will be in some tension as most of their chances were missed in the attacking third. They need to improve their forward line tactics if they want to get in the knock-out stage. They are going to face Bengaluru FC on 28th January, while Jamshedpur will try to get back to the winning ways against Kerala Blasters on 27th January.
