Argentina striker Mauro Icardi has joined Paris St-Germain on a season-long loan from Inter Milan. Mauro Icardi could make his PSG debut in the Champions League against Real Madrid.

Icardi, 26, fell out of favour with Inter and was not part of coach Antonio Conte’s plans for this season. He scored 111 goals in 188 Serie A appearances with the Nerazzurri.

Icardi in Paris

The South American arrived in Paris on Monday alongside his wife, and agent, Wanda Icardi to complete a loan move to the French giants, who will have an option to turn the move permanent next Summer for €65 million according to reports in the media. During the day, he underwent his medical so that he could complete his Parc des Princes switch.

The 26-year-old has also signed a two-year contract extension at Inter but PSG have the option to make the move permanent for a reported fee of 65m euros.

Icardi has not featured for Inter this season and had no action over the course of pre-season. It may take him a few weeks to get him up to speed. The broadcaster state that September 18’s UCL opener against Real Madrid could be the day Icardi pulls on the PSG shirt for the first time.Icardi’s arrival at the Parc des Princes comes at the perfect time for PSG manager Thomas Tuchel who has recently lost star men Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani to injury.

Icardi spent six years at Inter, scoring 124 goals in 219 appearances. “I will give everything to help my new team go as far as possible in all competitions,” Icardi said. “Paris St-Germain has become an international football powerhouse, attracting some of the greatest players in recent years. The momentum is strong in Paris, ambitions are high and I am sure that we have everything here to go even further.”
