Freiburg has been denied all three points after Schlotterbeck’s late own goal.

Freiburg have been held to 2-2 draw by Frankfurt, who managed to get a late equaliser through Schlotterbeck’s own goal.

Freiburg were coming off the narrow defeat against leaders Bayern Munich but everyone were still aware of their form prior to Bayern defeat – winning five matches in a row.

However, Frankfurt carried their momentum, which  they picked up after defeating Schalke, to this game and put early pressure on the hosts through Younes’ strike.

Freiburg responded around the half-hour mark when Roland Sallai found the nets after being teed up by Ermedin Demirovic.

Both the goalkeepers Kevin Trapp and Florian Muller were called into action however the scoreline remained 1-1 at the half time.

Freiburg came out on top in the 63rd minute when Nils Petersen scored a volley and proving once again that he is one of the best substitute players around.

But Freiburg’s hopes of an almost come-back win were denied by an equaliser from Frankfurt in the 73rd minute. Agonizingly, it has to come through Schlotterbeck’s own goal.

Both the sides didn’t push for the winning goals as the game ended in a draw.

Freiburg are currently 9th in the Bundesliga table, trailing Frankfurt by three points.

The Eagles have gone undefeated in their last five games in Bundesliga and will look to continue their momentum when they face Arminia this weekend.
