Erling Haaland Transfer: Why Barcelona didn’t sign 19-year-old

Reason Two: Difficult Agent

Another reason why Barcelona avoided the European sensation was because of their strained relationship with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola.

The relationship was hampered during Matthijs de Ligt transfer, as the dutch opted to move to Turin after initial discussion with Camp Nou. Barcelona had almost secured the signature of the Dutch captain before Mino Raiola decided to pull the plug.

Mino Raiola pulled off another business trick by making it difficult for Dortmund to hold Erling Haaland in the long run, as per his release contract his termination clause as on June 2021 would be a mere 75 million euros. This clause would enable Raiola to bring his client again to the transfer-market for a possible suitor.

Reason Three: Haaland’s suitability in Barca Formation

The Blaugrana had the option to sign sensational Erling Haaland, but the president Josep Maria Bartomeu was entirely against the signing the 19 years old. They were linked to several strikers in January. But for Norwegian, Barcelona board did not think that time, Haaland’s playing style would be suitable for Barca.

Barcelona continues their hunt for a striker after losing out Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez to long term injuries. They are now desperate for any player.

Did they miss out on Haaland or, like other European clubs, they are eager to dial Mino Raiola in next summer.
