Real Sociedad edge out Lazio to sign David Silva

Lazio remain confident of signing David Silva

The Spaniard will be returning to La Liga after a decade.

Real Sociedad have officially signed Manchester City ace David Silva on a free transfer.

It was reported that Lazio had an agreement in place with the 34-year-old but La Real have thrown a spanner in their works. The Biancocelesti were believed to be the potential suitors after offering him a three-year deal worth 10 million euros a year.

The Spaniard has decided to make his return to his homeland, with Sociedad signing him in a deal until 2022.

Silva’s season with Manchester City came to an end after they got knocked out in the quarter-finals against Lyon.

The former Valencia man has turned into a legendary midfielder at Etihad, helping Man City win numerous accolades over the course.

The two-time World Cup winner has also paid an emotional tribute to City fans.

“The time has arrived. Ten years and 13 titles later, it’s time for me to say goodbye to the club that has left an indelible mark on my life and career.”

“Manchester City and I have grown together. In 10 years, I have developed personally and professionally. I have celebrated many victories and titles and lived through epic moments.”

“I hope that City will achieve even bigger triumphs in the future. I am going to support the team from a distance. I am so happy I have shared these unforgettable moments with the City family – you will always be in my heart.”

City also said to be considering raising a statue for Silva in honour of his services to the club.

Sociedad are considering Silva as a replacement for Martin Odegaard, who is likely to return to Real Madrid.
