Leipzig 1-1 Paderborn: Leipzig conceded a last minute goal

Leipzig 1-1 Paderborn - Leipzig conceded a last minute goal

RB Leipzig were held to a 1-1 draw against Paderborn at Red Bull Arena in the Bundesliga earlier. Paderborn who are fighting to avoid relegation, secured a vital point when they struck at the last minute.

Patrik Schick gave the home side a well-deserved lead on the 27th minute but Dayot Upamecano’s first-half dismissal cost them the three points.

Leipzig struggled to hold on to their lead with ten men and Paderborn struck late into injury time to secure a draw away from home.

The draw will come as a huge boost to the struggling visitors.

Christian Strohdiek scored for Paderborn right at the end and it will be interesting to see if they can build on this result and put on a series of strong displays between now and the end of the season.

Leipzig are fighting for Champions League qualification and they cannot afford to drop points against these teams, especially at home.

They have a chance of finishing second in the league as well and it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back strongly in their next game.

Timo Werner will be disappointed with his showing today. The star striker had a great chance to make it 2-0 towards the end of the game but his shot grazed the crossbar and Paderborn made the most of their opportunity later on.

The Leipzig star is expected to move to Chelsea at the end of this season and he will be hoping to guide his side to the Champions League before saying goodbye.

A top-four finish still looks on the cards for Leipzig but they must look to beat the likes of Dortmund and Hoffenheim in the upcoming games.
