Benfica striker Darwin Nunez has been linked with a move away from the Portuguese club this summer.

The 22-year-old has been in exceptional form for Benfica this past season and he has scored 34 goals across all competitions.

Apart from his exploits in the Portuguese league, the Uruguayan striker has been quite impressive in the Champions League as well and he has put in exceptional performances against teams like Liverpool.

It is no secret that the top teams are looking to prise him away from Benfica this summer and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

According to the latest reports, the player and his representatives have held talks with several top clubs across Europe regarding a potential move and the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United are all keen on securing his services.

Manchester United will have to find a quality replacement for Edinson Cavani and the Uruguayan seems like a perfect fit.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are expected to lose Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich this summer and they will have to replace his goals.

As far as Newcastle are concerned, Eddie Howe will have to bring in an upgrade on the likes of Joelinton if the Magpies want to challenge for European football next season.

All three clubs have the finances to pull off the transfer and it remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few weeks.

That said, a player of Nunez’s calibre will probably demand Champions League football and that could give Liverpool an edge in the transfer chase.
