Nani and Ronaldo played together for 11 years in the Portugal national team and Premier League at Manchester United. They were teammates in Manchester for two years.

The former United player has tried to speak with Ronaldo but only received a short reply. He wishes that Cristiano Ronaldo would stay at Man Utd to help the club redeem their spot and secureChampions League qualification.

“When he’s on vacation, he doesn’t answer the phone to anybody,” Nani said. “I tried to talk to him, but he said: ‘I’m so busy now, we’ll talk soon’.

“I hope (he stays). He’s an important player and a player who always makes a difference. I hope he’s in a good mood to help the club, so hopefully.”

According to Manchester, Ronaldo is still facing his “family issue”, resulting in missing the final week of United’s pre-season tour in Perth. In previous reports, he wishes to leave Man Utd this summer. Several Big clubs, unfortunately, declined the opportunity to sign the Portugal Star. He also rejects a two-year contract offer from a club in Saudi Arabia worth €275million.

Ronaldo aims to play in the Champions League. Since the Man Utd finished 6th place last season, he is now uncertain whether to continue with the Red Devils. However, the new Man Utd manager  Erik Ten Hag already claimed that he is not for sale, and Ronaldo needs to stay to fulfil the promising role that is prepared ahead for him.

Meanwhile, Nani is open to returning to Old Trafford if the right time comes.

“It’s a good feeling. It’s always good to see old friends,” he added. “We have good memories at Old Trafford in Manchester. It was an exciting night, my first game for Victory and I wanted to be on the field with them and see the fans as well.”
