It is easier to manage Romelu Lukaku than superstars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, says Tuchel

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has claimed that it is easier to manage Romelu Lukaku than Neymar or Kylian Mbappe.

The German managed Paris Saint-Germain for two and a half years but has again aimed a dig at his former employers, stating that he felt like a minister of sports at the Paris club.

In his time at the Parc des Princes, the 48-year-old took PSG to the Champions League final in 2019, only to fall at the final hurdle to Bayern Munich in Lisbon.

But the following December, the Parisians dismissed him amid a poor run of form and off-field issues involving some of his players. However, he was quickly employed by Chelsea after his dismissal and went on to win the Champions League with The Blues. He has transformed the club into title contenders this campaign.

During an appearance at the ‘Festival Dello Sport’, organised by Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Borussia Dortmund manager shared his thoughts on Chelsea, PSG and managing star players.

In the interview, the Chelsea boss compared new Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku to PSG stars Neymar and Mbappe.

“It’s easier to coach Lukaku than Neymar or Mbappe,” he said via BeSoccer.

When asked about the difference between Chelsea and PSG, Tuchel added that he needed to use his diplomacy skills while in Paris.

“They are two completely different clubs with regards to style and organisation,” he said.

“At PSG, I felt I was the Minister for Sport. I had to also manage family members and friends of the stars.

“At Chelsea, I work much more calmly.”

The Blues currently sit atop the Premier League table after nine games, holding a one-point lead over rivals Liverpool.
