Top five favourites for Serie A Golden boot 2021/22 – Prediction

Ciro Immobile-Lazio

It is not even halfway through the new season of Serie A but we are seeing several players plying their trade to win the Golden boot. Here are the early top five favourites for the top scorer race for the 2021/22 season.

Edin Dzeko

Despite being in the twilight of his career, Edin Dzeko is showing no signs of stopping down since he has made a greater impact at his new club Inter Milan. Having proven his worth at Manchester City and AS Roma, the 35-year-old has fitted into Simone Inzaghi’s squad like a duck to the water, scoring 6 goals in 7 league games this season. The Bosnian striker is currently leading the Serie A scoring charts alongside Ciro Immobile.

Dusan Vlahovic

Dusan Vlahovic‘s stock skyrocketed following his stellar season with Fiorentina last term, scoring 21 goals in the Italian top-flight. The young Serbian striker has carried his brilliant form to this season, finding the nets 4 times in 7 league games so far. It appears to be Vlahovic’s last season for La Viola after rejecting a contract renewal. Fiorentina are turning out to be Serie A’s dark horses this season – currently 5th in the table – and Vlahovic continues to be their key player.

Victor Osimhen

Napoli have enjoyed a terrific start to the new season, winning all of their seven league games so far. Luciano Spalleti’s side have made an emphatic statement that they can’t be taken for granted in the Scudetto race this season. Victor Osimhen‘s impressive run has caught the attention of many, as the Nigerian striker is proving to be a real deal for Partenopei. Osimhen created high expectations after becoming Napoli’s record signing last season. The 22-year-old has carried on from where he left last season, racking up 4 goals in 6 league games so far.

Lautaro Martinez

Lautaro Martinez played more like a second fiddle to Romelu Lukaku over the last two seasons but the Argentine’s importance has been manifest this season, scoring six times in five league appearances this season. Martinez, nicknamed El Toro, has also been impressive for the Argentine’s national side.

Ciro Immobile

The winner of the European Golden Boot in the 2019/20 season, Ciro Immobile is making a statement that he can replicate a similar success next year as well. Last season, the Italian striker managed 20 goals but he is showing he can be more lethal in the attack under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri.
