Manchester United have reportedly turned their attention to the signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha.

The Red Devils are in the market for a striker after losing their Anthony Martial to injury, while the future of their main striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, remains in doubt.

Having already missed out on Bologna forward Marko Arnautović, Erik ten Hag’s side have now turned their attention to Cunha.

According to 90min, Man United have opened talks with the 23-year-old in hope of bringing him to Old Trafford this summer.

The Brazilian spent last year at Atletico Madrid after joining for a £22m move from Hertha Berlin. He can play across the forward line but is perhaps best known for his work as a central striker – which is where United see him fitting in.

According to reports, talks have taken place between the player’s representatives and United with the player thought to be open to the move.

Meanwhile, his club Atletico need to sell players this summer and had offered Man United Alvaro Morata to Man United. But the Red Devils see the 23-year-old Cunha as the best fit for ten Hag’s side.

According to the report by 90min, Diego Simeone’s side want double the £45m money they spent on Cunha last summer as Hertha are also due a 10% sell-on figure for the former RB Leipzig man.

The Brazilian has four years left on his current contract with Diego Simeone’s side.
