Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with an exit from the Premier League club following an embarrassing 5-0 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday.

There have been rumours that the Old Trafford hierarchy could be looking into potential replacements for the Norwegian manager and the likes of Antonio Conte, Brendan Rodgers and Zinedine Zidane have been linked with the Premier League club.

Manchester United signed top class players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer window. They were expected to challenge for the Premier League title this season instead they find themselves 7th in the league table with just four wins from nine league matches.

The Premier League side will have to make swift changes if they want to remain in the title race this season and bringing in a new manager could prove to be a smart decision.

Antonio Conte

Someone like Antonio Conte could improve the side instantly with his tactical acumen and experience. The Italian guided Inter Milan to a league title last season and he has won the Premier League title in the past with Chelsea.

Conte enjoyed great success during his time as the manager of Juventus as well. He is a proven winner and he would be a superb upgrade on Solskjaer.

On the plus side, Conte is out of a job right now and he could be available for cheap.

Brendan Rodgers

On the other hand, a young manager like Brendan Rodgers could add a distinct style of play to the side and bring out the best in the young players. The former Liverpool manager has turned Leicester into an exciting attacking side and he has helped develop young players like Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans.

He has also helped the Foxes win the FA Cup during his time at the club.

Rodgers could work wonders with talents like Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood.

Zinedine Zidane

Finally, someone like Zidane would be an exceptional appointment because of his proven pedigree of winning major trophies on a consistent basis.

The French man has won the Champions League and the Spanish league title multiple times with Real Madrid and he could be the ideal manager to take the Red Devils back to their former glories.

Zidane left his post as the Real Madrid manager at the end of last season and he would be available on a free transfer.
