Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford for months now.

The 28-year-old World Cup winner will be a free agent at the end of this season, and he has not signed a contract extension with the Red Devils yet.

According to a report from the Sun, Manchester United are looking to keep him at the club for as long as possible. They have offered him a massive £500,000 a week contract in order to fend off interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG.

All three European giants are looking to sign Pogba on a free transfer at the end of this season. It will be interesting to see whether Manchester United can convince the midfielder to commit his long term future to the club.

They are willing to make Pogba the highest-paid Premier League player in history shows how highly the Frenchman is rated at Old Trafford.

There is no doubt that the 28-year-old is the best central midfielder at the club, and losing him on a free transfer would be a massive blow for Manchester United.

The player’s agent Mino Raiola has claimed in the past that Pogba’s time at Manchester United is up, and he is likely to be on his way this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United’s lucrative contract is enough to change the midfielder’s mind.

That said, a move away from Manchester United might not be a bad option for the player either. He is likely to receive a massive signing on fee when he joins a top club on a free transfer this summer, and that will more than compensate for the lucrative contract he will miss out on when he leaves Old Trafford.

It all depends on whether the midfielder is looking for a new challenge at the end of this season.

Manchester United are certainly a better team with Pogba in the starting lineup, and they must do everything in their power to convince the Frenchman to extend his contract as soon as possible.
