Max Allegri rejects Tottenham offer

Tottenham‘s search for a new manager has taken a new hit as another managerial candidate rejects their offer.

According to reports in Spain, former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has rejected Spurs’ contract offer to permanently take on the London club’s coaching role.

Spurs are still looking for a permanent manager to replace the sacked Jose Mourinho but have found little success so far. Ryan Mason continues to serve in the interim but is not expected to remain head coach next season.

The 53-year-old Allegri was one of the candidates earmarked for the vacant Tottenham job. However, the Italian reportedly has no desire to manage Spurs and is waiting to see whether Zinedine Zidane remains Real Madrid‘s boss.

Meanwhile, a separate report has claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will approach Brendan Rodgers again if Leicester City miss out on Champions League qualification.

The Foxes boss remains the ideal candidate for the job but distanced himself to secure Champions League qualification for his side.

However, Liverpool’s win over Burnley on Wednesday meant that the FA Cup winners have dropped to fifth on the league standings. They are now in danger of missing out if the Reds go on to beat Crystal Palace in the last game of the season.

According to a report by The Sun, Rodgers is still Daniel Levy’s first choice for the vacant job. Still, the Spurs chairman feared he would not be able to secure the services of the former Liverpool coach if Leicester secured Champions League football.

With Spurs able to deny the Foxes a Champions league place as both teams meet on Sunday, Levy now sees that as an opportunity to tempt the Northern Irishman to North London.
