Tottenham Hotspur agreed to terminate Serge Aurier’s contract on deadline day and the player is now being linked with a move to Arsenal.

The Ivorian defender is currently a free agent and he is eligible to join a club despite the fact that the transfer window has closed.

The 28-year-old struggled to establish himself as a key player for Tottenham since joining the club back in 2017 from Paris Saint Germain and the Londoners decided to reduce their wage bill by getting rid of him earlier this week.

According to Sky Sports, the defender wants to stay in the Premier League and Arsenal are one of a number of clubs that have been made aware of his preference.

According to reports, clubs from France, Russia and Turkey are keen on signing the former PSG defender as well.

The Gunners recently loaned out Hector Bellerin to Real Betis and they could certainly use reinforcements in the right-back department.

Despite his inconsistencies, Aurier showed his qualities in the Premier League and he could prove to be a useful addition for Arsenal.

On a free transfer, this would be a no-risk signing and therefore the Gunners should look to snap him up in order to add more quality and depth to their back four.

Arsenal have signed Nuno Tavares, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu to improve their defensive unit but they have not signed a quality right back. Aurier could compete with Cedric Soares for the starting berth this season if the Gunners manage to pull off his signing.
